On Jan. 25, 2020, volunteers from the Multispecialty Center in New London prepared an Italian-themed dinner for approximately 50 residents of the New London Homeless Hospitality Center. Each month, a different NEMG office volunteers to provide a warm meal to all in attendance. The center is a place of safety and welcome to adults facing homelessness in southeastern Connecticut. It collaborates with dozens of public and private programs and agencies to address the underlying causes of homelessness for each person and help him or her find permanent housing as quickly as possible.

“It makes a visible impression on the residents at the homeless shelter to see local physicians participating with office staff in these types of outreach programs, said Anthony Carter, MD. “I personally found it to be very gratifying.”

“It’s always an amazing and meaningful experience that I personally feel everyone should try to be part of at least once in their lifetime,” said Mary Rose, MA. “It’s such a reward to see the smiles on their faces being shown so much love. It was pouring rain that night, but we insisted on getting there, and the fellowship was nothing but amazing.”
