Diversity and Inclusion announces 2020 classes

All YNHHS employees are invited and encouraged to enroll in training classes offered by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at locations throughout the health system. Classes scheduled to be offered throughout 2020 include:

Ouch! That Stereotype Hurts provides techniques and communication skills for promoting inclusion and respect in the workplace.

Connecting with Others shares tips for creating a user-friendly workplace by focusing on specific skills which create sustainable culture change around inclusion and diversity.

LGBTQ – Cultural Competence provides an overview of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer health disparities, demographics, and terminology, plus key strategies for bringing high quality care to LGBTQ people and their families.

Defeating Unconscious Bias addresses hidden biases that can affect hiring, promoting and team building, and thwart creating a fair and inclusive workplace.

Cultural Competence in Healthcare helps health care professionals provide better care to a diverse patient population, interact more positively with patients and caregivers, and improve health outcomes.

Generations teaches skills needed to understand and overcome generational differences that can sometimes bring conflict to the workplace.

In addition, several D&I classes are offered in an “e-learn” format via computer.
