New London and Westerly practices complete diaper drive

diaper drive

(l-r): Tracy Miner, MA; Crystal Brough, practice supervisor; Dalma Villegas, MA; and Martha Carmona, PSA II

On March 25, 2020, practices from New London, CT and Westerly, RI donated over 500 diapers and two boxes of baby wipes to the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center in Pawcatuck, CT. The center provides basic items for people experiencing financial hardship, services for senior citizens needing socialization and transportation for those living in Pawcatuck, Stonington, North Stonington and Westerly.

“I applaud the NEMG staff who collected the much-needed baby items during an especially uncertain time, when focus could easily turn internal and generosity could go by the wayside,” said Kimberley Abell, clinical practice optimization specialist.

“The average cost per month for diapers is $100,” said Crystal Brough, practice supervisor. “Parents who cannot provide basic items, like diapers, stress over this. What NEMG has done to support these families has helped reduce that stress. I am so happy to have been a part of this successful drive, and to have all the practices in the New London region help out. To see the grateful smiles on the volunteers at the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center was priceless.”

NEMG is dedicated to helping the communities it serves. For information about local events or to join the Community Outreach Committee, contact Robert Mitchell, 203-384-5109.
