NEMG nurses honored for excellence

Cynthia Williamson, LPN; and Jocelyn Oliver, RN, care coordinator

Congratulations to Cynthia Williamson, LPN, and Jocelyn Oliver, RN, care coordinator, on receiving the prestigious Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing. The award, named for Florence Nightingale, is an annual honor commemorating professionalism, outstanding nursing care and a persistent commitment to the well-being of patients.

“It was with equal measures of shock and gratitude to receive the news that I had been selected for the Nightingale Award,” said Williamson. “To me, a Nightingale recipient is someone who goes above and beyond and exemplifies care and compassion. That is the type of nurse I continually aspire and strive to be. I try every day to provide the best care I can and to treat every patient the way I would want my own family members to be treated. I credit the wonderful team that I work with at the Mystic office, and the nurse mentors and role models I have had the privilege of working with over the years, for supporting me, teaching me and molding me into the nurse I am today.”

“I am truly humbled by this recognition,” said Oliver. “The nursing profession as a whole is important to so many and I am proud to uphold and pass along the values I have learned. I am grateful for all the love and support over the years from my family, friends, and colleagues. My journey to get here was not typical and not without hardship, but I am grateful it was my journey, as it made me who I am today. I learned anything can be accomplished by simply starting and then finding a way to finish. I hope my children can see this and be inspired for their own journeys they choose to travel in life.”

Plans for the 2020 Nightingale Award banquet are still being determined. Watch for more information on a final event date.
