Maria Alicea
This month, Northeast Medical Group recognizes a valued member of its Diversity and Inclusion Council: Maria Alicea.
Alicea, diversity and inclusion consultant, began working for YNHHS in 1999 and has been in her current role for the past two years. Her support has been instrumental in the development of the NEMG Diversity and Inclusion Council. “I’ve always been involved with community service,” she said. “Personally, I feel that helping others is a civic duty and I am proud to work for an organization that makes it its mission to partner with other organizations that meet not only the needs of the patients, but those of the communities we serve.”
When asked which initiatives she’s looking forward to being a part of in FY19, she said, “They are all very exciting, but education and training is my passion. When you create an environment where people feel safe sharing, the reward is invaluable. It provides an opportunity for staff from different backgrounds to network and learn from each other. I also look forward to working and partnering with talent management to cultivate programs that inform, groom, mentor, educate and ready staff for career growth.”
