YNHHS prepares for mandatory flu vaccination

YNHHS prepares for mandatory flu vaccination

YNHHS is rolling out its annual mandatory flu vaccination program to protect patients and employees. In the past two years, nearly 99 percent of employees were vaccinated.

Employees, physicians, students, volunteers and vendors must receive a flu vaccination or have an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of continued employment. Information about applying for exemptions is available on Infor. Employees requesting a religious exemption must do so by Oct. 31 and their requests will be approved or denied by Nov. 15.

Employees may be vaccinated at hospital-based flu clinics beginning this month. The flu clinic schedules are available now on Infor. Employees may also get vaccinated at their primary care physician’s office or a participating CVS Caremark vaccination network pharmacy. Information about all vaccination options, including how to submit documentation of vaccination by a PCP or participating pharmacy, is on Infor. The vaccination deadline is Dec. 1.

As part of YNHHS’ commitment to employee health and wellbeing, it is now the standard of YNHHS that the influenza vaccination be made part of an employee’s Epic record, if one exists. Employees can opt-out of having their flu vaccination information automatically uploaded to Epic by going to Employee Space on Infor, clicking on the Employee Health widget, and selecting the Flu Epic Opt-Out option under the Health tab. Employees who do not currently have an Epic record will not have their information included in the medical record of any other provider(s). The deadline for opting out is November 15, 2019.
