More than 400 employees from across Yale New Haven Health attended the first YNHHS Diversity and Inclusion Summit recently. The day-long event included workshops lead by diversity subject matter experts; a keynote address by Shakila Ahmad, President of the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati; and updates from the delivery network Diversity and Inclusion Councils. A highlight of the day was the culmination of the Amazing Race – the Race to Understanding, a months-long exercise challenging participants to engage in diverse activities in the community. Stephanie Beauton, manager, Practice Operation, NEMG, took home the coveted first prize – two airlines tickets, plus a cash prize. Presenting the award was Kwame Davenport, diversity and inclusion strategic consultant, Marna Borgstrom, YNHHS CEO, Lisette Martinez, YNHHS chief diversity officer and Maria Alicea, diversity and inclusion consultant.
