On Aug. 2, NEMG partnered with New London Public Schools to supply 30 families with weekend food bags. Handed out on the last day of New London public schools’ summer camp, each bag contained enough non-perishable breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack items for two days. All food was donated by NEMG and included items such as cereal, oatmeal, tuna, pasta, sauce and granola bars.

“Children in the New London community experience food insecurity year round,” said Stephanie Crook, practice operations manager. “During the school year, the public school system offers free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch programs for its students, however, during the summer and other school breaks, many children are not sure where their next meal will come from. We were very pleased with both the giving spirit of our New London/Westerly region staff and the excellent turnout of families receiving these bags. We will definitely commit to more events like this in the future.”
