Northeast Medical Group shines with holiday spirit

The spirit of the holiday season was very active at Northeast Medical Group.

Partnering with Toys for Tots, members of NEMG’s Community Outreach Committee (COC) from the Bridgeport region collected and presented over 650 new, unwrapped toys to both the East End Food Pantry and the Milford Fire Department. All toys were distributed to children on Dec. 25, 2021.

“Donating a toy may seem like a simple act for us, but the happiness it brings to our youth in need will have a lasting, positive impact in their lives, and that is what it is all about,” said Andrea Waller, preventive health coordinator, population health services. “I am truly grateful that our NEMG community is compassionate, generous and truly understands what it means to give back. I am extremely proud of the commitment to the local community for another successful event, as we will continue to look for more opportunities to give back.”

The New London region forged ahead with their annual toy drive to benefit Safe Futures — a foundation for women and families escaping domestic violence. Christine Plaxa, practice supervisor, Katie Poitras, practice operations manager, Nicci Zak, practice supervisor, Crystal Brough, practice operations manager, Tracy Cottrell, administrative associate, and Minister Mary Rose, MA, collected and delivered over 150 toys to the shelter.

NEMG practices from Stonington, CT, and Westerly, RI, collected non-perishable food items to benefit the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center — a multi-purpose facility which offers a variety of social, educational, health and human services programs with an emphasis on community spirit. Collections were delivered just prior to Thanksgiving and the Christmas holiday.
