february heart month

Northeast Medical Group Internal Medicine – New Haven - 1308 Chapel Street

YNHHS celebrated February Heart Month

In recognition of Heart Month in February, Yale New Haven Health’s Heart and Vascular Center (HVC) educated and celebrated with events involving inpatient and ambulatory areas throughout the system.

The month kicked off with YNHHS’ launch of Heart Month web pages that included videos on varied topics, including preventive heart health and cardiac rehabilitation. Viewers also had the opportunity to learn more about heart disease risk factors for women and congenital heart disease.

National Wear Red Day 2022 was on Friday, Feb. 4, and YNHHS’ social media channels included plenty of photos of employees in support of heart health. Additionally, heart health tips and information were posted throughout the month. Employees at several Northeast Medical Group locations joined systemwide efforts and wore red to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke.

The 2022 New Haven Go Red for Women® online event on Feb. 10 focused on women’s heart health. The signature event, titled “Health Equity for Women: Overcoming Obstacles to a Healthy Heart,” included two signature speakers, an inspirational survivor speaker and fundraising appeal. Event chair was cardiologist Lisa Freed, MD, director of the Yale New Haven Hospital HVC Women’s Heart and Vascular Program.
