Maggie Shalagan

Community Outreach Committee Profile – Third Quarter 2022

This quarter, Northeast Medical Group recognizes a valued member of its Community Outreach Committee (COC): Maggie Shalagan.

Shalagan, manager of population health, began working for NEMG in 2016 and has been a COC member for five years. Since 2021, she has served as the COC lead for the New Haven region. Of the numerous programs she’s volunteered her time to, her personal favorites are those which support children in the community. “Toy collections, summer camp drives and volunteering with child-focused community centers is so rewarding,” said Shalagan. “The smallest support goes the longest way for these families. I am also very excited to be able to prepare meals again at the Ronald McDonald House in New Haven for families with children undergoing medical treatment at nearby system hospitals.”

When asked what she enjoys most about working with the COC, she said, “I am so proud of all the effort and time that the New Haven COC has invested in our community. The most rewarding part about working with this committee is seeing the passion and willingness that each employee has towards supporting their community. Knowing that we continue to make an impact in our communities and can come together as an engaged group to provide services, resources and time to those in need, is such a rewarding experience. I am very excited to continue supporting the work of the COC in the future.”

The COC is instrumental in carrying out NEMG’s mission to help the communities we serve. For information or to join, contact Robert Mitchell, 203-384-5109. Watch for more information on committee initiatives.
