NEMG delivered Thanksgiving cheer in every region

Throughout the Thanksgiving season, each Northeast Medical Group region held a community outreach initiative. Together, they collected food and clothing for those in need.

On Nov. 20, employees from the Bridgeport region came together and proudly supported the annual NEMG Bridgeport Rescue Mission Great Thanksgiving Project at the Webster Bank Arena. Members of the Bridgeport community gathered at the arena to take home turkeys and other dinner items and choose from coats, scarves, mittens and socks. “The look of gratitude on the faces of the people we helped will stay with me forever,” said Robert Mitchell, practice operations manager and co-chair of the NEMG Diversity and Inclusion Council.

New London and Westerly, RI regions collaboratively collected 170 pounds of food for the St. Vincent de Paul Shelter Food Pantry, 157 coats for Safe Futures and 188 pairs of warm socks for the New London Homeless Hospitality Center.

The Greenwich region gathered approximately 40 food items for Lifting Up Westchester. All donations were added to holiday collection bags to help families have Christmas dinner.

Stephanie Beauton, operations manager, led the New Haven region initiative in donating 512 pounds of food to local pantry, Loaves and Fishes. Additionally, 135 jackets were collected to keep K-8 students at New Haven elementary schools warm. “There is no better exercise for the heart, than reaching out to others in your own community and being a part of lifting them up,” said Beauton.

NEMG is dedicated to helping the communities it serves. For information about local events or to join the Community Outreach Committee, contact Robert Mitchell, 203-384-5109.
