Mary Michelin wins Gold certificate of appreciation

Congratulations to Mary Michelin, LPN, NEMG General Surgery, Trumbull, for winning a gold certificate of appreciation in the Bridgeport Hospital Quality Award Program.

Michelin was nominated by a patient who chose to remain anonymous. The patient was grateful for the special care provided through her breast cancer challenges, and praised Michelin for staying with her, remaining in direct contact and checking in throughout every ailment.

In addition to patients and their families, winners can be nominated by fellow employees, managers, peers and visitors. Submissions are accepted through the intranet, internet, paper form and patient letters and surveys. Patient Relations and Human Resources puts submissions into three categories: silver, gold and platinum.

• Silver: Describes behaviors that are expected of our staff but still warrant recognition
• Gold: Describes behaviors that do not lend themselves to story format but reflect system values
• Platinum: Describes behaviors that reflect or exceed system values and are translatable to a story format
