Congestive Heart Failure

Overview

Northeast Medical Group’s cardiologists have particular training and expertise in congestive heart failure (CHF). CHF is a chronic condition in which the heart’s function as a pump is inadequate to meet the body’s needs. It can be caused by a host of other heart diseases including:

  • Heart attacks
  • Heart infections
  • Heart valve problems
  • Hypertension
  • High blood pressure

Common symptoms of CHF include shortness of breath; fluid overload often resulting in leg swelling; fatigue; and diminished ability to walk or exercise.

Upon diagnosis, our cardiologists will perform a comprehensive heart evaluation including an echocardiography as well as both non-invasive and potentially invasive tests. They will prescribe effective medications to treat the acute symptoms and stabilize the condition for the long-term.
