On April 2, Meghana Rao Brito, MD, presented “Atrial fibrillation and the role of left atrial appendage occlusion devices” to an audience of eight fellow clinicians as part of the inaugural New London Ambulatory Grand Rounds series.

Dr. Brito provided an overview of various devices, including a relatively new one called the Watchman, a small implant placed into the heart that can reduce the risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation. She also explored the role of anticoagulation in the era of left atrial occlusion devices.

The New London Ambulatory Grand Rounds series is held at 7:30 am in the third floor conference room at 194 Howard St., on a quarterly basis.

Upcoming presentations include:

  • June 4 – Advances in Prostate Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment – Joseph Brito, MD
  • June 4 – Comprehensive Kidney Stone Care: Surgical and Metabolic Considerations – Timothy Tran, MD

Watch for more information on this new series in upcoming newsletters.
