NEMG Leadership Message

Dear NEMG Family:

As we move into the second half of our fiscal year, I hope you are doing well, and I want to thank all of you who attended the NEMG Clinician Forum on Thursday, March 2. We had a great turnout with more than 300 viewers. I would like to extend a special thank you to our presenters for their informative contributions. Keeping each other updated throughout the pandemic had been paramount and these online discussions have allowed us to share information and answer your questions.

Recently, we officially launched the aligned Physician Enterprise, led by Margaret McGovern, MD. Dr. McGovern is the CEO of Yale Medicine, Deputy Dean for Clinical Affairs, YSM, and the Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Executive, Physician Services. (To learn more about Dr. McGovern, read the article in this newsletter. The purpose of the Aligned Physician Enterprise is to provide an opportunity to create a shared infrastructure for NEMG and Yale Medicine. This will enable us to decrease fragmentation and increase communication and standardization across our physician practices, thereby enhancing quality, service and access for patients.

Like most health systems across the country, we face an ongoing challenge related to filling job vacancies, especially for in-demand positions. I acknowledge and understand the stress this puts on our people and organization. Please know that we are working very closely with our YNHHS Human Resources partners to attract and recruit qualified candidates to fill these much-needed positions as well as on strategies designed to retain our talented staff. We have tirelessly taken care of our patients and their families, yet amidst our staffing challenges, we continue to keep people safe and carry on the business of health care. My sincere thanks to you all!

I sincerely appreciate the ongoing care and commitment you offer our patients and each other. That care needs to extend to your physical and emotional well-being too. I encourage all of you to take part in our voluntary, confidential well-being check-ins which are available to all clinicians and staff. Anyone interested is asked to schedule an appointment.

Other resources designed to help us navigate this challenging time include:

  • The Employee and Family Resources program, which offers confidential counseling
  • A variety of helpful options can be found at www.achievesolutions.net/ynhhs.

March 30 was National Doctors’ Day. Thank you to our doctors for all you do to provide high-quality, patient-centered care and advance science and medical education.

I wish the very best to all of you, especially as we look forward to all that springtime has to offer.

Sincerely,

Dr. Richard Goldstein, MD profile photo
