NEMG offers campus health services to UNH and SHU

In August, Northeast Medical Group began offering campus health services to students of both the University of New Haven (UNH) and Sacred Heart University (SHU). The alliance between NEMG and the two universities provides students with greater access to care as well as the use of MyChart. Care providers for UNH Health Services and SHU Student Health Services are employees of Yale New Haven Health and considered part of the YNHHS network of providers.

Beginning Aug. 1, the University of New Haven was the first of the two institutions to kick off the campus health services partnership with NEMG. Located on campus in the Alexander W. Nicholson Jr. Student Health Center, UNH Health Services provides students with a variety of services, including screening and treatment of acute illnesses or injuries such as upper respiratory infections, urinary infections, STIs, sprains and more. The center also assists with primary care needs, reproductive health, preventive care services and educational health programs. “Providing superior medical care for our students is our paramount priority,” said Ophelie Rowe-Allen, EdD, dean of students and chief student affairs officer, UNH. “We are grateful for the comprehensive services and support that will be available on campus through our Student Health Center.”  Read more about the UNH Student Health Center.

On Aug. 15, Sacred Heart University students began receiving health services at the state-of-the-art Park Avenue Medical Center, located down the street from campus at 5520 Park Ave., Trumbull. In addition to providing students with a wide range of healthcare options, Sacred Heart University Student Health Services provides a shuttle to and from the medical center. All Bridgeport Hospital and Yale New Haven Health resources are available to students as well. “We are excited about this partnership with Yale New Haven Health and Northeast Medical Group,” said SHU Dean of Students Larry Wielk. “It will provide a wider range of services and more healthcare options for our students.” Read more about SHU student healthcare.
