Northeast Medical Group recognizes a valued member of its Community Outreach Committee (COC): Karissa Carlson.
Carlson, preventive health coordinator, began working for NEMG in 2017 and has been a COC member for the past two years. Of the numerous programs she’s volunteered her time to, a personal favorite is the “House of Heroes” initiative – a program which recognizes and honors military and public safety veterans by providing free home repairs. Additionally, she has had very positive experiences working with both the Ronald McDonald House of CT and the Diaper Bank of CT.
When asked what she enjoys most about working with the COC, she said, “Each and every program that our committee has been involved with is special. It is an opportunity for me to participate outside of our community and give back. I enjoy meeting new people, as well as the things I have learned. It provides me with a natural sense of accomplishment and the best reward is hearing a simple ‘Thank you.’ These community outreach opportunities have made me feel a sense of pride, and identity. They have been incredibly helpful in my career path by allowing me to grow my skill set in so many ways. I am proud to be involved in an organization that gives me an opportunity to touch the hearts of others in every way possible.”
The COC is instrumental in carrying out NEMG’s mission to help the communities we serve. For information or to join, contact Robert Mitchell, 203-384-5109. Watch for more information on committee initiatives.
