Northeast Medical Group’s obstetricians and gynecologists — commonly known as OB/GYNs — are highly trained physicians who specialize in the wide range of women’s health and reproductive issues. Our board certified OB/GYNs recognize the importance of compassionate, personalized care for each patient at every stage of her life, and are also skilled in the latest technologies and procedures. From adolescence, into your childbearing years and throughout the aging process, your OB/GYN will remain a dedicated member of your healthcare team.
Obstetrics and gynecology is a combined discipline that requires extensive medical and surgical education, as well as comprehensive knowledge of women’s health. Your Northeast Medical Group OB/GYN possesses a well-rounded understanding not only of female physiology but also an awareness for the unique psychological, social, cultural, environmental and genetic factors that affect a woman’s overall well-being.
The lifelong relationship between you and your OB/GYN begins with your first routine examination, usually as an older child or adolescent. Your OB/GYN is aware this can be a sensitive procedure and handles it with utmost consideration. The initial visit and subsequent ones often include annual tests, such as a breast exam and Pap smear, plus ongoing preventive care counseling and health education. And if you have symptoms of a gynecological disorder or disease, she or he will make a diagnosis and recommend a treatment plan. Your OB/GYN will coordinate with your primary care doctor and other specialists who may become involved in your treatment.
Family planning is another expertise of your OB/GYN, encompassing birth control, fertility issues, pregnancy testing, maternity care, delivery of your baby and postpartum care. Later in life, your OB/GYN will guide you through menopause transition and other women’s health issues you may encounter.
