Community Outreach Committee Profile – First Quarter 2023

worman

Amy Worman, patient experience consultant, NEMG

This quarter, Northeast Medical Group recognizes a valued member of its Community Outreach Committee (COC): Amy Worman.

Worman, patient experience consultant, began working for NEMG in 2018 and has been a COC member for the past two years. Of the numerous programs she’s volunteered her time to, her personal favorites include a toy drive held in collaboration with the ‘r kids Family Center, especially because of the friendly competition between ambulatory sites when decorating themed donation boxes; NEMG’s annual “Back to School” backpack drive; and the swimwear and equipment drive for LEAP of New Haven, which during its last collection, netted enough towels, swimsuits and swim-related gear and accessories for over 50 children. At the moment, she is working on making a connection with a program that hosts homeless teens to provide gifts and letters of cheer.

When asked what she enjoys most about working with the COC, she said, “I find it rewarding to know people in need are receiving assistance from our wonderful ambulatory site employees. To be able to donate money, an item or lead an initiative is humbling. Even more so, when we ask co-workers if they would like to chip in, they give and give. I have missed meetings, regretted it, and then remembered, we need to contribute in some way, big or small, so I try to get back involved in some measure. The COC leaders of each region are appreciative of input and help from committee members, and their respective offices also help. We are better when we help others. It is an honor to play a small part in this committee.”

The COC is instrumental in carrying out NEMG’s mission to help the communities we serve. For information or to join, contact Robert Mitchell, 203-384-5109. Watch for more information on committee initiatives.
