L. Priyanka Mahali, MD

L. Priyanka Mahali, MD, is a double board-certified endocrinologist and obesity medicine specialist who specializes in the treatment of many endocrine and metabolic conditions, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes, thyroid disease, pituitary disease, high cholesterol, renal disease, weight management and osteoporosis. Dr. Mahali practices evidence-based medicine and provides personalized care considering the unique needs of each of her patients. She strongly believes that prevention is better than cure and that quality of life is as important as life itself. Dr. Mahali is committed to fostering a strong patient-physician relationship.

Dr. Mahali completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center in New York, where she also served as a chief endocrinology fellow. Being trained at a tertiary care center, which is also one of the busiest training centers in the country, she honed skills in managing several complex endocrine conditions. Dr. Mahali participated in several research and quality improvement projects, focusing on diabetes technology, and health equity, published several case reports, and peer-reviewed articles.

As a board-certified obesity medicine physician, she works closely with her patients to reach their desired weight loss goal through a combination of medications and lifestyle changes. Dr. Mahali currently resides in Fairfield, Connecticut with her husband and two children and in her free time enjoys running and developing plant-based recipes. She is board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and in obesity medicine through the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).
