Virtual walk takes forward steps for Pride Month awareness

Pride Flag

For a month this summer, Northeast Medical Group’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Council showed support for Pride Month and LGBTQIA+ awareness with its third annual virtual walk. Staff from numerous offices tracked their steps during and after work and posed for pictures at their practices.

Participants racked up some impressive group totals, with top honors going to the Yale Center for Infectious Disease (4,418,317 steps). Special recognition went to MOB 2 East (2,340,231 steps), Niantic Ambulatory Operations East (1,558,015 steps) and MOB 3 West (1,539,736 steps).

Tameeka Parks, ambulatory operations practice supervisor;Vanessa Pomarico, APRN; and Chris Hines, director, Ambulatory Operations West, organized the successful event.

“We coordinate and promote the virtual walk every year to bring awareness to the LGBTQIA+ community,” said Parks. “It is our hope that awareness will bring respect, education and a platform for safe conversations and healthy dialogue.”
