In June, NEMG staff from Ambulatory East participated in the L+M Summer Stride 5K and 10K road races, as runners and information table volunteers.
On June 14, NEMG Community Outreach Committee (COC) members participated in the Annual L+M Summer Stride 5K and 10K road races. The event, organized by the Hartford Marathon Foundation in partnership with L+M Hospital, supports the Susie Beris, MD Youth Running Program.
Employees from NEMG’s Ambulatory East region and L+M Hospital ran in the event while others hosted a table, engaging with community members and sharing information about access to local providers.
In collaboration with Christina Amick, Miss Pre-Teen Connecticut, medals from runners were collected to give to oncology patients, and Ambulatory East volunteers will write notes of support to these patients. Christina’s mother is Kristen Amick, assistant counsel, Corporate and Regulatory Services, Yale New Haven Health.
“The importance of this event lies in its sense of community,” said Cristin Gill, supervisor, Ambulatory Operations East. “People of all abilities are encouraged to participate, and each participant is supported and cheered. This helps promote a healthy lifestyle while recognizing that everyone is on their own fitness journey.”
