YNHH, Habitat for Humanity make it an even dozen

habitat

YNHH and Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven held a June 6 groundbreaking for two new houses on Sylvan Avenue. From left are: Michael Holmes, senior vice president, Operations, YNHH; Ron C. Hurt, New Haven Ward 3 alder; and from Habitat of Greater New Haven, Charles Lindberg, board president, and William Casey, executive director.

On June 6, YNHH and Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven broke ground to officially launch new builds at 62 and 66 Sylvan Ave. in New Haven. These are the 11th and 12th YNHH-sponsored homes since the hospital began partnering with Habitat 11 years ago. Habitat is an international non-profit organization that builds, renovates and repairs houses for families. Families purchase their homes through affordable monthly mortgage payments and invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, along with volunteers, to build the houses. Hundreds of physicians and hospital employees have volunteered on Habitat home builds over the years. If you would like to volunteer on your own time for the Sylvan Avenue homes or other Habitat for Humanity projects, contact Allison Mangles at [email protected].
