NEMG urologist first to use new bladder cancer treatment at Bridgeport Hospital

Bridgeport Hospital is the first in Fairfield County to use blue light cystoscopy with Cysview to help diagnose and treat bladder cancer that can potentially spread into surrounding muscle tissue.

YNHHS prepares for second year of mandatory flu vaccination

Last year, for the first time, YNHHS’s flu vaccination program was mandatory—and highly successful. Almost 99% of employees received the vaccination, with the remainder receiving approved medical or religious exemptions or choosing voluntary termination (such as retirement).

Beginning October 16, Northeast Medical Group provider and staff orientation will be combined into one session. This new approach was taken to enhance the new hire experience and to ensure all employees receive the same communication and training.

Three reasons employees should choose YNHHS facilities for basic lab and radiology tests

Competitive rates. For blood-drawing and lab work, employees (and covered family members) only pay a $30 co-pay, with no deductible. YNHHS outpatient radiology services offer rates that are competitive with other commercial centers. Radiology services are subject to deductibles and co-pay.

New NEMG uniforms are coming soon

New Northeast Medical Group patient service associates’ (PSAs) uniforms – featuring new polo tops with a cardigan or a fleece option – will be available in the coming months. Allotments for 2018 will be added to the Fuery website in October, and shipping for orders placed during that month and November will be free.

Open Notes goes live October 2

Yale New Haven Health System and Northeast Medical Group are implementing OpenNotes, a national movement aimed at providing patients near real-time, secure access to their physicians’ notes in their electronic health record. The program, which appears as Shared Notes in patients’ MyChart portal, is scheduled to go live for all NEMG primary care physicians and specialists on October 2.

New medical records request process

Northeast Medical Group medical record requests are now handled centrally through the Health Information Management office. To receive their medical records, patients will complete the new Authorization for Access/Release of Information and submit it to the appropriate address or fax number as indicated on the form. For more information or questions, please contact the Health Information Management office at 203-688-6054.

Give to the coat drive

Northeast Medical Group's Community Outreach Committee is collecting gently used coats and winter accessories for people of all ages through November 11. Donations will benefit those in need throughout the Bridgeport, Greenwich, New Haven and New London/Westerly regions. Wanted items include coats, jackets, hats, scarves, gloves, mittens and blankets. Thanks to everyone's generosity, last year's campaign collected more than 1,600 items.
