Community Outreach Committee Profile - May 2018
(l-r) Muqaddim Ali and Cecilia Torres
This month, Northeast Medical Group recognizes two essential members of its Community Outreach Committee (COC): Muqaddim Ali and Cecilia Torres.
Muqaddim Ali: Ali, a human resources consultant, has worked for NEMG since February 2017 and in that time has also been a valued member of the COC. “We’re more than a healthcare company,” he said. “We’re also an organization that gives back to the communities we serve.” During fall 2017, Muqaddim participated in NEMG’s annual backpack drive where he and fellow COC members collected 84 backpacks filled with hygienic items and school necessities for the Youth Continuum, an organization that works with homeless and at-risk teenagers and young adults in New Haven.
Cecilia Torres: As a practice supervisor, Cecilia Torres has been with NEMG for three years and has been actively involved with the COC since its inception in 2015. Working with the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, she’s provided jackets and food items as part of NEMG’s Great Thanksgiving Project and built furniture for rooms there in need of makeovers. “Working with the COC is food for my soul,” she said. “It’s a terrific opportunity to give something back to those less fortunate, and you take away so much more than what you contribute.”
The COC is instrumental in carrying out NEMG’s mission to help the communities we serve. If you are interested in joining, please contact Robert Mitchell, 203-384-5109. Watch for more information on committee initiatives.
