Community Outreach Committee Profile – March 2018
(l-r) Kimberley Abell and Alberto Charles
This month, Northeast Medical Group recognizes Community Outreach Committee (COC) members Kimberley Abell and Alberto Charles for their outstanding work with the Groton Senior Center.
Kimberley Abell: Abell, a clinical optimization specialist, has worked for NEMG for seven years. She has also been a valued COC member since July 2017. “I truly enjoy my work with the Groton Senior Center,” she said. “The majority of the people I interact with are our patients and it’s heartwarming to see them happy in an everyday setting.” Her passion for senior center guests guided her to a successful 2018 Souper Bowl event, where she and fellow COC members dished out bowls of soup, donated by area restaurants, to raise money for the Groton Senior Center.
Alberto Charles: As a patient service associate II, Alberto Charles has been with NEMG for five years and has been actively involved with the COC since fall 2017. “It’s just a good thing to do, for yourself and the community, and volunteering brings people together,” he said. “I enjoy the social connections between the different demographics I encounter, and the Groton Senior Center’s guests have a great deal of wisdom, knowledge and humor to pass on, making it a tremendous experience to learn and grow.”
The COC is instrumental in carrying out NEMG’s mission to help the communities we serve. If you are interested in joining the group, please contact Robert Mitchell, 203-384-5109. Watch for more information on committee initiatives.
