On June 7, Northeast Medical Group’s Optimization and Value Team held a retreat and team-building session on Quarry Road. Analysts, preventive health coordinators, clinicians, optimization specialists and operations members gathered for an engaging day of sharing and learning.

Arnold DoRosario, MD, chief population health officer, started the day discussing the future outlook of the accountable care organization (ACO). He was followed by Richard Goldstein, MD, chief medical officer and NEMG vice-president, who presented on pharmacist-managed medication therapy for patients with chronic conditions – a recent initiative he participated in at the University of Louisville.

A highlight of the beach-themed day was a panel of physician leaders discussing quality care, office workflow and the biggest challenges at the practice level. William Aberizk, MD; Karen Brown, MD; Michael Connolly, MD; Robert McLean, MD; and Brian Williams, MD, addressed these topics: HCC coding, the importance of annual wellness visits, payer program metric capture and the streamlining of Epic to support these areas. Kathy Madden, NEMG ACO and value-based programs director, presented 2018 core initiatives and discussed how all of our roles link together. livingwellCares staff led participants through relaxation exercises and shared information on self-care opportunities. Rhonda Way, patient experience manager, led an energizing “storytelling” session that underscored the importance of teamwork in reaching our goals.
