Conflict of interest and CMS open payment upcoming activity
In the coming weeks, the Office of Privacy and Corporate Compliance (OPCC) is scheduled to launch a conflict of interest attestation survey to NEMG physicians and certain advanced practice providers (APPs). Participants will receive an email with a unique, secure link to the survey and will be asked to complete the survey within the requested timeframe.
This month, the OPCC began reviewing CMS Open Payments data for physicians. Open Payments is a federal program that provides transparency and increases public awareness of financial relationships between the healthcare industry and physicians. This is accomplished by collecting and making public any payments or transfers of value from drug and device manufacturers to physicians or teaching hospitals. This data became public June 30.
If you have questions about these upcoming initiatives, contact the Office of Privacy and Corporate Compliance, 203-688-8416.
