Community Outreach Committee Profile – July - August 2018
(l-r) Teresa Kelly and James Fountain
This month, Northeast Medical Group spotlights two key members of its Community Outreach Committee (COC): Teresa Kelly and James Fountain.
Teresa Kelly: Teresa has been a practice optimization specialist and valued COC member at NEMG since 2016. “We have all been someplace in our lives when we needed another person’s help,” she said. “I love giving back, and to me, it’s a wonderful feeling to help someone in need, unconditionally.” That positivity contributed to the success of the first-ever NEMG community health fair, in which Teresa and volunteers from different departments came together to raise awareness about preventive health care and NEMG’s specialty services.
James Fountain: A certified ophthalmic technician, James Fountain has been with NEMG for five years and has been actively involved with the COC since its beginning. In addition to his work with the backpack initiative for the Youth Continuum, he also volunteered at the community health fair’s nutrition and wellness table, educating people on diabetic retinopathy and the importance of regular eye exams. “I enjoy being part of a team, especially with colleagues I’ve never had the opportunity to meet before,” he said. “I’m grateful to work with fantastic leaders to support worthwhile causes, and it’s a true reward to witness the success of our hard work.”
The COC is instrumental in carrying out NEMG’s mission to help the communities we serve. If you are interested in joining, please contact Christine Hines, 203-502-6508. Watch for more information on committee initiatives.
