NEMG’s 2017 APP award winners honored

On Oct. 26, Vanessa Pomarico, APRN, and Sandra Allison, PA, received YNHHS 2017 APP Leadership Award at the YNHHS Annual APP dinner, held at the OMNI Hotel in New Haven, CT.
Vanessa Pomarico has been teaching Nurse Practioner (NP) students for the past 19 years and most recently was the interim director of the Family Nurse Practitioner track at Southern Connecticut State University. She’s served as a courtesy faculty and guest lecturer for numerous nurse practitioners, physician assistants and medical schools throughout Connecticut and specializes in women’s health and transgender health care.
Sandra Allison is a graduate of the Yale physician associate program. After spending 15 years in New Haven at a staff model HMO called CHCP, she spent the next 15 years with Dr. Mark Mann and Kathryn Gould, PA, in their practice at Whitney Internal Medicine in Hamden. Sandra continues to enjoy her work in adult Internal Medicine at 4A Devine Street in North Haven, CT.
The APP award was founded in 2016, when the advanced practice providers at YNHH organized an annual APP Week.
In addition to APRNs and PAs, the APP group includes certified nurse midwives (CNMs) and certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs).
