Thank you, social workers
Throughout March, Northeast Medical Group honored social workers for their essential contributions to health care. Social Workers deal with issues of abuse, assault, trauma, self-harm and suicidality, along with legal, environmental and family issues, to name a few. Their compassion and dedication helps patients heal, not just physically, but emotionally as well. Working with other treatment providers such as physicians, APRNs and APCs, social workers strive to deliver the highest-quality, patient-centered care possible. Though the work is difficult and challenging, the reward of seeing their patients succeed is what keeps the heart of the social work profession thriving.
The theme for Social Work Month 2018 was “Social Workers: Leaders. Advocates. Champions.” Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Dayna DiBiasi said, “The heart of social work is about advocating for our patients, teaching them the skills necessary to get well, and connecting them with the resources they need to be healthy and thrive within the contexts of their lives.” According to the National Association of Social Workers “Every day the nation’s 650,000 social workers act as advocates, champions and leaders who make our society a better place to live.”
