Community Outreach Committee Profile - April 2018
(l-r) David Mazzariello and Sonia Stavens
This month, Northeast Medical Group spotlights two key members of its Community Outreach Committee (COC): David Mazzariello and Sonia Stavens.
David Mazzariello: As an operations manager for the Bridgeport region, David has worked for NEMG since November 2016 and in that time, has also been a valued member of the COC. “Working with the COC provides members of NEMG with an opportunity to further support the communities we serve,” he said. “The most rewarding part for me is coming together under one shared mission to benefit those less fortunate around us.” That enthusiasm has been essential to the success of the Ronald McDonald House of CT dinner program, where Mazzariello and fellow COC members prepare, cook and serve home-cooked meals to children and their families, many of whom are being treated at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital and surrounding facilities.
Sonia Stavens: A licensed practical nurse (LPN) and winner of the 2017 Nightingale Nursing Award, Sonia Stavens has been with NEMG for five years and has been actively involved with the COC since winter 2016. During her COC involvement, she’s initiated a toy drive for Safe Futures Homeless Shelter in New London, benefitting hundreds of children. “I’m very proud to say I’m a nurse at NEMG,” she said. “Compassion for others comes naturally to me, and I’m always happy to work together with the COC to further the care of the people in our communities.”
The COC is instrumental in carrying out NEMG’s mission to help the communities we serve. If you are interested in joining the group, please contact Robert Mitchell, 203-384-5109. Watch for more information on committee initiatives.
