Friday, September 25, 2015

Greenwich, CT-

WHAT:The annual Teddy Bear Clinic, now celebrating its 17th year, is a family event that teaches youngsters about hospitals and medical procedures in a friendly and fun atmosphere. This free family event offers hand-on experiences that teach children about medical procedures and help lessen fear of doctors. The event is FREE and open to the public. Last year’s event drew more than 1,500 visitors from Fairfield, Westchester and Rockland counties.

WHEN: Sunday, Oct. 4, noon-3 pm, rain or shine

WHERE: The event will be set up under tents in the parking lot of the Greenwich Medical Building at 49 Lake Ave., right behind the hospital. Visitor parking will be available in the hospital’s staff parking lot next door

WHO: For children 3-12, accompanied by an adult (and a favorite teddy, stuffed animal or doll)

Whether Paddington has a headache or Elmo’s caught a cold, doctors, nurses, clinicians and other hospital staff will be on hand to treat children’s favorite toys at Greenwich Hospital’s 17th Annual Teddy Bear Clinic on Sunday, Oct. 4.

Children ages 3-12 are invited to bring their favorite stuffed toy or doll for evaluation and treatment by Greenwich Hospital staff at more than 20 specialty tables. Each child receives a passport that is stamped as they visit the different department tables. First stop is admitting for an ID bracelet, and then it’s on to the check-up table for weighing and measuring. Emergency personnel will be ready to take care of sprains, bumps and bruises, and the operating room team will be scrubbed and ready for surgery. In addition, children learn about diagnostic imaging, medical technology and many other health and wellness topics. The festivities will be held rain or shine and include appearances by event mascot Dr. Ted E. Bear, a tour of an ambulance, giveaways and healthy snacks.
